OUR RESTAURANT

We opened our first vegan restaurant in Oshawa in 2018 where we currently serve more than 1,000 meals per month! 

We are a take-out restaurant serving of your favourite comfort foods, like poutine, burgers and donuts but made with the goal of keeping you healthy and animals safe!

We are environmentally conscious, so your meals are always served in take out recyclable, biodegradable containers.

We offer a small seating area and we are happy to have our customers enjoying their fresh made food at our diner.

RETAIL

We sell our cheese and meat substitutes to restaurants in the GTA.
FGF Vegan cheeses and plant-based meats will soon be available on the shelves of retailers in Ontario.

In 2020 we opened a manufacturing facility in Mississauga ON, where all of our products are currently being made.

Our dream is to have delicious, healthy, plant based products easily available to everyone, making a vegan diet easier to adopt.

Our mission at FGF Vegan is to create alternative meal options that recreate the favourite foods that many of us miss when switching to a vegan diet.
We promote a healthier lifestyle, compassion to animals and environmental sustainability.


OUR GOALS

Our goal is to inspire everyone, not only a small number of purists, to eat a vegan diet on a regular basis. We are part of  a revolution that  is transforming the way we eat.

We have tested, experimented and created many recipes including fake meats and cheeses with the goal of giving alternative meals to vegans, vegetarians and veggie curious.

At FGF Vegan you will find vegan and healthier versions of the foods you grew up loving to eat. ​Once you try our food you will see that you are not compromising on flavour by adopting a vegan diet. ​​

 THE WOMAN BEHIND FGF VEGAN

My name is Nara Schuler. I am originally from Brazil and moved to Canada in 1992. I hold an honours degree in Business Administration, with specialization in the fields of Education and Financial Planning. For more than 10 years, I worked as a high school teacher in Ontario and subsequently switched to Financial Planning. With the increased stress of a very busy lifestyle and inappropriate diet choices, I developed Type 2 Diabetes. This was a moment of huge impact for me and it completely changed my interests in life.

I've always loved cooking. While adopting a vegan diet I have had to reinvent all of my recipes. I was determined to recreate those recipes in the healthiest way possible while not compromising on flavour. This prompted me to get professional certifications in cooking and nutrition.

QUALIFICATIONS

Over the last few years I have invested in countless books about plant-based diets, examined many nutrition studies and attended seminars on nutrition and medicine. I have also watched a large number of lectures about healthy eating. In 2015, I received my Plant Base Nutrition Certificate from T. Colin Campbell Center for Nutrition Studies and e-Cornell, and a Culinary Skills Certificate from Durham College. In 2016, I took over the leadership of Durham Veg – under the umbrella of the Toronto Vegetarian Association in the Durham Region. In 2017, I, with the help of dedicated volunteers, created and organized the Durham Veg Fest. 

I published my book Secrets of My Vegan Kitchen in 2016 where I share the changes I made to my diet that made it possible to reverse my diabetes in only 3 months without the use of medications. This change made my life more meaningful and healthful.

Continuing with my goal to promote diet change in 2017, I acquired my Coach Certification and registered in a Holistic Nutrition program, which I am currently attending.

In 2018, I opened my restaurant, FGF Vegan, to create a more practical approach to help people change their diet.
